Want to become a Resident Assistant for the
University of New Orleans Department of Student Housing? 

Requirements to be a Resident Assistant:

• Applicants must have been a full-time student throughout the semester prior to the
employment period and must have earned at least a 2.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

• The applicant must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 during his or her term as an RA.

• All chosen applicants must successfully complete the Staff Training prior to the beginning of each semester hired. Staff Training begins on January 2, 2008 and lasts until January 9, 2008.
During the period of Staff Training, it is required that you attend all sessions.

• Due to the extensive time demands of the RA position, outside employment must
be regulated as such. The applicant may hold one job outside of the Resident Assistant position.
If the job is an on campus job, the hours allowed are 20 hours per week. If the job is an off
campus job, the hours allowed are 13 hours per week. During Staff Training, applicants will
need to provide Residence Hall Managers with class and work schedules.

• Upon receiving the position, all Resident Assistants are committed throughout
the entire Resident Assistant contract period unless dismissed by the Residence Hall Managers
and/or Director of Student Housing.
